About
Independent, not official
HowToSriLanka.lk is an independent information platform and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Government of Sri Lanka.
What you'll find here
Step-by-step guides for things like getting an NIC, registering a vehicle or buying land. Each guide lists the documents, the fees and the office to go to, and links to the official page we used.
You can also start from a life event, such as having a child or starting a business, to see every step in order; look up an official form or a government office; or find your Divisional Secretariat. We never host government forms: every download link goes to the official site.
What we don't do
We can't accept applications, take payments or check the status of your file. We don't speak for any ministry or department, and nothing on this site is legal advice.
How guides are checked
We work from official websites and notices. Every guide shows the date we last checked it, and if we couldn't confirm a detail, such as a fee, the guide says so. Our editorial policy explains the process.
