What to Do If Your Sri Lankan Passport Is Lost or Stolen
If you are in Sri Lanka, report the loss to the Immigration hotline on 0112 101 533, then make a complaint at your local police station. The police pass it to the Department of Immigration and Emigration, which cancels the passport worldwide. Then apply for a new passport in person, with the original police complaint. You pay a fine of Rs. 15,000 or Rs. 20,000 on top of the passport fee if the lost passport had not expired. If you are abroad, get a police report there and take it with the complaint form to the nearest Sri Lankan mission. A passport reported lost can never be used again, even if you find it.
